In the year 2039, widespread adoption of brain implants leads to a mysterious phenomenon known as "the dream." Players become investigative journalists where they travel across continents, collecting and analyzing information from different sources to uncover the mastermind behind this global conspiracy and score points to unveil the truth. The truth is out there—will you find it?
The Digital Layer: Where Gameplay Meets Insight

The game's digital layer is a key component that enhances the immersive experience. By scanning each card with their phone, players unlock and reveal the digital content associated with the card. Including information from media sources, open data and metadata in the form of AR objects. It seamlessly integrates the physical and digital aspects, adding a dynamic and interactive element to the overall game experience.
Truth Detectives addresses the challenge of online misinformation and disinformation by creating an educational experience as a board game. Game-based learning is an established way to exchange information, practice, and learn. The idea's innovative approach is using AR (Augmented Reality) to make a physical board game "smarter" by connecting physical and digital spaces. We use AR to make the game more captivating by visualising key game events, providing clues, and guiding players through the process. Part of the content and gameplay will be developed using AI tools. The project's goal is to achieve engagement and empathy through gamification and storytelling rather than by only presenting dry facts and numbers.
